Mr. & Mrs. Mathews | Corinth, Texas | 6.25.14

Sarah logged onto her "Christian Mingle" profile, determined to cancel her account.  But looking at her messages one last time, she saw a note from a new guy - Benson.  They began to communicate via messages and phone conversations, eventually meeting in person.  Quickly, their foundation of friendship and a love for Christ deepened and grew into a love for each other, thus through God's perfect timing, this city boy and country girl met and married.

Their wedding day began with Sarah's Granny regaling the girls with several amusing stories of the bride's childhood growing up in Alabama, while a few doors down in the guys' room, Benson passed his time with family and groomsmen.  The halls were full of people coming and going with great excitement for this occasion, as everyone readied themselves for the afternoon ceremony at Ashton Gardens.

In memory of her Mom, Sarah carried a beautiful locket around her bouquet.

On this day, it was Sarah's heart's desire to have the opportunity to show her love for Benson in a special way.  So before putting on her dress, their time together began in this manner, with such a spirit of grace and servanthood, in both the giving and the receiving.

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
                            - Ecclesiastes 4:12

"My cup overflows with blessings."
          - Psalm 23:5

You never know how paths will cross back and forth through life.  We had no idea in August of 2012,  when we met Sarah, the sweet roommate of our first Texas bride, that we would have the privilege of walking through her wedding day two years later.

Benson and Sarah, it was so evident throughout your day, that it was the time, place, and moment in which the Lord meant you to be.  We love y'all!  :)

P.S.  That first Texas couple?  Robert & Elise!  Such fun to spend the day with Elise as a bridesmaid and to hear Robert officiate the wedding!  :)

Mr. & Mrs. Gribble | Kilgore, Texas | 6.21.14

One week before Shelly met Mike, she caught the bride's bouquet at a friend's wedding.  So maybe there is something to be said for the tradition of tossing the bridal bouquet…  :)

Looking across the group of people gathered to celebrate the beginning of their marriage, it was easily evident that their lives and ministries have positively impacted many through the years.  From several different far away states and countries, there were friends and family present who represented many different stages of their lives.  It made for quite the joyful gathering!

We loved Mike and Shelly's choice to have Mike's girls stand on the groom's side in the wedding party!

A favorite moment of the day was the conversation in the salon brought about by Addison's question... "Aunt Shelly, what is a bride?"  Addison took her job as flower girl very seriously!  ;)

The bride & groom's vows rang out strong and true, rooted deeply in the couple's faith in Jesus.
"I vow to make our marriage a showcase
of His [God's] great love.  I vow to praise
and worship our Lord and Savior the
rest of our days."  - Mike

"The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy."
                                                 Psalm 126:3

The reception held some sweet surprises.  Mamiko - one of Shelly's bridesmaids - gifted the couple an adorable pair of Japanese figurines made to resemble the bride and groom.  And thanks to Mike's love of ice cream, everyone got the opportunity to help themselves to a soft serve ice cream bar... delicious!  Plus, Shelly sent all the guests home with peanut butter and crackers in a cute little "to go" package.  ;)

We couldn't help but smile and agree wholeheartedly as the pastor began Mike & Shelly's ceremony saying...
"Some brand new things are coming into your lives… and it's gonna work out good!"
