In case you're wondering, yes, the little fella above is the same little fella below, only he is a year older today! Mom and I were there for his very first birthday party! I took advantage of the occasion and snuck into the playroom, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, while he was occupied with the balloon Aunt Carole (a.k.a. Mom) brought him.
Our little fella is getting so close to taking off at a run! He'll walk a few steps at a time now, until he realizes what he's doing and promptly sits back down.
Mom has always made our birthday cakes and decorates them according to whatever theme or scheme is being used for our celebrations that particular year. (I've claimed the German chocolate with peanut butter filling as my own personal birthday flavor.) So for Michael's 1st birthday party - of course, Mom wanted to make the cake - "funfetti" with buttercream icing. Mom really did all the work... however - I did mix (and taste) the icing colors.
Aunt Carole's favorite... she loves the expression!
Oh what fun! Michael's turned ONE!
"Nothin' scares me... I have a ONE-YEAR-OLD!"

We seem to always be taking pictures of other people's special celebrations and moments - it's such fun to take pictures of our own! [Top: Mom & Aunt Linda | Uncle Trey & Michael. Bottom: Pa-paw & Michael | Uncle Trey, Aunt Linda, & Michael.]
Michael's first babysitter... Mrs. Carla!
For such a special occasion... Michael's grandparents came all the way from Georgia!
"Ten tiny fingers, that always want to play,
That never stop exploring that wonder of today,
Ten tiny fingers, that from the very start,
Will reach out for tomorrow yet always hold your heart."
Happy FIRST Birthday, Michael! We love you, sweet boy, and are so thankful that God brought you into our family when He did!
