Nathan | Senior 2011 | 9.23.10

When I tell someone that I am 17 years old, have a photography business, and am a senior in high school, well...they don't usually believe it!  If you were to ask me what the best thing about this year is, I would say getting to photograph others who are in the same stage of life that I am!  I especially enjoy shooting friends.  I felt so honored when Nathan asked me to shoot him!  Take his pictures that is.  :)  We had no idea that the first location we chose to meet was where he attended preschool!

We could not have chosen a more beautiful day.  The evening sun spotlighted Nathan perfectly!

Nathan is a super talented drummer!  Not only does he play with the
Madison Central High School Band, but he uses his talent regularly at church.

Nathan suggested we use the warehouses by Central.  Mom and I checked them out earlier that week and found a new side we hadn't used before!  Great spot!  He has this look down.

Even though his schedule was tight to get pictures in and get back to Central where the band was participating in the exibition at Tournament of the Bands, look at these shots!

I wish that everyone was as relaxed as Nathan on their photo session!

Just plain...fun!

When Nathan asked me to do his senior pictures I immediately told him that we had to use the car!  I don't really think that bothered him much...I mean look at it!  :)

Last picture...look at his eyes!!

Jeff & April | 9.13.10

Recently, I again had the opportunity to shoot with Lexington photographer Marissa Noe.  She has been so willing to let me tag along and learn everything I can!!  The best part about it ... we have so much fun together!  Get ready for a long blog post.  I can't say it enough, I had WAY TOO MUCH FUN!

Opened the door ... into the suite ... snagged this shot.  Worth a thousand words!  Wonder what she's thinking.  This is the day every girl waits for.

The room was perfect for pictures!  Big windows = great lighting!
How about having your makeup done by a friend all the way from Texas!

A positively radiant bride!

Into the dress ...

Right before the ceremony started, I stepped back into the room where the bridal party was.  To my surprise, I found this going on!!  How hilarious!  No peeking, Jeff!  And, you have to love the picture to the right!!  Atmosphere was high excitement and energy, for all parties!

Applause for the musicians!!  What an absolutely fabulous renditon of You Raise Me Up.

  Isn't this smile contagious?

Off to the reception ... could there be a more beautiful place than this farm?

What a fun group!  They were so excited about jumping, and let me tell you, those girls had on high heels!

Okay.  Let me fill you in on the story behind this little guy.  [Won't he make a handsome groom someday!]  He patiently waited alongside his dad until we were finished with a few of the group shots.  Afterwhich, he kindly informed me that he wanted his picture taken.  Get this - he even picked out a specific spot!  Too precious, couldn't stand not to share!  Love that pose!

This is the second wedding occasion that DaRae & Friends have catered when I've been present.   I knew right away the taste and presentation of the food would be beautiful!!  Well, I was right...

Some favorites of the new "Mr." and "Mrs."  ...

Finally, the sun began to set on a beautiful wedding day ...

up, up, and away! 9.4.10

Life is in full swing for me at the University of the Cumberlands, and while I've not had time to do portraits, I've had my camera in hand every day.  Part of that comes from the blessing of being able to have a workstudy position in Media Relations... then the rest of it comes from the fact that I just can't help it... I'm a photographer.  :)

The first week of the fall semester is "Welcome Week."  There are all sorts of different events each night - everything from movies on the lawn to laser tag.  One of the big attractions this year was the hot air balloon rides.  I didn't have time to go up for a ride... however, I had a big thrill taking pictures of something so out of the ordinary.  It was a pretty neat sight!

Hunter | Senior 2011 | 9.1.10

Here at jk photography, we get really excited when someone calls us to do senior pictures for...a guy!!  They don't usually want their pictures taken, but their mom does.  Hunter was a different story - he was SO enthusiastic, which made me excited to take them!

When we first showed up and gave him the run down of our location ideas, he said, "Awesome!"
I knew right then this was going to be a great session.  :)

Because Hunter is interested in modeling, we did some different things.
I so enjoyed the opportunity to get outside the box!

I'm a huge fan of the "urban" look in the next pictures.  Finally!
A chance to use some of our new location ideas!

Originally, we came to this spot for the train cars...well, the minute I spotted these huge cylinders we definitely had to stay longer!

If you have had a session with us, you know that we like to use a field.  I couldn't resist heading out there for a different look.  It's not an urban look, but really, how can you not like these?

Thanks for looking!  Hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures as much as I enjoyed shooting them!  Feel free to leave us a comment.
